Monochrome Monday: Abandoned

I’ve always been fascinated with photography of abandoned places. Abandoned places are everywhere in the world but unfortunately the places usually are not safe for touristic purposes and closed for public. I have doubt that we could enter these places without permits. When I traveled to Lisbon (Portugal), I saw few empty buildings with scattered walls. My mind ran wild, thinking these places were abandoned places with odd things inside 🙂

Have you seen unique abandoned places? Perhaps one of these places as listed in Bored Panda – 31 Haunting Images of Abandoned Places?

  1. Indah, these pictures are great! I feel the same way about abandoned places; there is so much history and feeling in them. The photos seem to be able to capture some of it! Cher xo

  2. I love Abandoned Photography too. And I had a similar experience when I was in Budapest last October. I wanted to visit an Art Nouveau shopping mall, but when I got there, it was closed and abandoned. There was a big padlock on the fence. Until today, I’m still dreaming of going there and taking photographs. Imagine that – an abandoned department store in an Art Nouveau building, what beautiful pics one could take there!

    • I can imagine, it must be a very unique view in that Budapest’s shopping mall! I think abandoned places could be attractive tourist attractions. Perhaps the organizer should limit the number of tourists or photographers to ensure the safety..it could be source income 😀 I have heard about an abadoned mall in Thailand that became a huge fish pond (the rainwater came down from its broken roof). At the beginning the residents who live surrounding the mall put the fish to encounter the mosquito attacks but then the fish number was increasing 😀 It was a very interesting story 🙂
