About

Thank you for visiting my blog. My name is Indah, I am an Indonesian by passport and a world citizen by heart. I have been living in Jakarta and Bandung (Indonesia), Groningen, The Hague and Rotterdam (The Netherlands) and Minneapolis (The U.S.A). At present, I am based in Jakarta.

I chose to use “indahs” as the blog’s name based on the first e-mail address when I started the internet. The very first time I learned using the internet was in Groningen (The Netherlands) as a junior researcher. My Dutch research partner was patiently introducing the use of the internet and email to me. I will never forget those days: the excitement of learning a new technology for the first time in a foreign land, using a foreign language.

I love traveling and scuba diving but the most important of all: I enjoy these activities more if I bring my camera. I feel lost when traveling or diving without my camera. That makes me an addict to photography.

I have all my travel diaries in handwriting and these days I’d like to share the story online. Some of my blog posts are about my previous travel. Please excuse grammatical errors in my post, I hope my pictures speak more than my writing.

  5. Indah, your blog has a lovely lay out with brilliant photographs, very professional looking – well done. Indonesia to Rotterdam, that’s some contrast. Which Island are you from? I have travelled Java & Bali and loved them but really want to do Sumatra. Wilbur

    • Thank you so much 🙂 It is so nice to read your kind comment 🙂 I was born and raised in Jakarta – Java Island, so yes, there is huge contrast. I was used to big city life in Jakarta so it was bit shock with small cities in the Netherlands 😀 Rotterdam is a sister city of Jakarta actually.
Sumatra is unique island, I am sure you will like the travel there. Have you considered to travel to the Eastern part of Indonesia? I found Sulawesi (Celebes) is special too. Have a great weekend!!

      • I may have to add Sulewesi to the bucket list! We did quite a route – Jakarta-Bogor-Lembang & Bandung-Pangandaran-Yogyakarta-Bali and loved it all. Took in Prambanan (see my travel icons article) and Borubudor too.

I will write it all down soon for a later book.
