Black Hills Treasure: Sylvan Lake
Sylvan Lake was a tranquil and incredibly beautiful lake. I have never seen a lake with unique rock formation like the Sylvan Lake before. Located in the Black Hills (South Dakota, USA), the lake is known as the ‘Crown Jewel of Custer State Park’.

The rock formation surrounding the lake was naturally formed, however, the lake itself was created in 1881 when Theodore Reder built a dam and the first resort in the Black Hills.

There are plenty activities that you can do around the lake, from camping, kayaking to exploring the lake and its rock formation. We did let Dante, our dog, swimming in the lake and I can tell that he loved it!
It’s no surprises the lake was chosen as a movie’s location. Can you guess which movie it was? 😉

Sounds like a good place to visit
It was! Thank you 🙂
What a blissful place this is, Indah! No doubt the place was selected for shootings though I couldn’t place the movie. Which movie was it?
Thank you, Maniparna! Dante, my dog was super happy there (we were too 😉 ) and he refused to leave the lake! The movie was National Treasure 2 with Nicholas Cage as the leading star 🙂
🙂 …

Such a magnificent lake, Indah! Is it possible to swim there?
Another “indah” place you’ve taken us. That is one thing in the US: so many places well preserved in Nature.
