Five Reasons to Return to Ambergris Caye (Belize)
We visited Ambergris Caye (Belize) six years ago and planned to return this summer. I became a certified Open Water scuba diver in the Island, and I would never forget my first dives in Belize. The island is 40 Kilometer in length – it’s just like the distance from Minneapolis to the border of Wisconsin State. It’s a small island but charming and inviting. Followings are our reasons to return to Ambergris Caye.
Fun People to Scuba Dive with
Belizeans in Ambergris Caye are easy going and friendly. I had positive experiences with Belizeans, from the immigration officer (who kept my Indonesian passport for a night since I did not have a visa to enter Belize) to Belizean scuba divers.

Beautiful White Sandy Beach
No need to explain here, as the picture speaks for itself. One thing to appreciate: the entire beach in the Island is for public!

Delicious Fresh Food & Beautiful Hotels next to the Beach
One thing I remember, the Belizean ceviche was fresh and tasty! Hotels and resorts in the Island are majority located next to the beach, and as well the restaurants!
Impressive Marine Life
I hope I will meet these amazing animals again. The best locations for scuba diving and snorkeling in Ambergris Caye are Shark Ray Alley and Hol Chan Marine Reserve.
Exploring the Island with Golf Cart
Unfortunately, we did not explore the Island on our first visit. This time, we hope to explore the Island from the south to the north with the golf cart, and hopefully no rains during our visit 🙂

Great post and fortuitous timing! We are heading there in December. I was certified open water on the Oregon Coast so I’m looking forward to different marine life and water temperatures. Your photos are fantastic.
Hi, thank you! My apology for responding late. I am still in Belize at this moment. You will love diving here. I will write further about the diving in Ambergris Caye compared to our experience six years ago.
I’d love to go there! 🙂
You will like it! We are in the jungle area now – the mosquitos are crazy but so far the trip goes well.
This is on my Retirement Vacation List as a Gotta Go to. Gotta see place. I will be driving my little golf cart around the island like a Mad Woman!! LOL!! 🙂 😀
Hahaha yup! That will be a super fun thing to do!!
Beautiful photos and descriptions! I’ve also been to Belize – twice – and had a wonderful experience for many of the same reasons you describe. We stayed on the mainland, as we were doing a service trip with students, but visited Caye Caulker both times. I also liked visiting the area around San Ignacio, Belize on the border with Guatemala.
Have never been to Belize but your photos make me want to! Missing the ocean and beaches big time now.
Belize looks and sounds like and amazing place from your photos and narrative. Awww, you became a certified open water scuba diver there. It must be special 😀 Hope the weather will hold up on your trip and you can explore it with the golf cart. Golf cart, that sounds like a cozy mode of transportation 😀 I would love to do a trip round an island like that some day. Maybe they can even let you drive the cart…or maybe not!
It looks beautiful Indah. I admire how much you travel and dive. 🙂
Bonjour Indah, tes photos sont merveilleuses et l’endroit et un petit paradis 🙂 Un grand merci.
