WE-fie!

Selfie. Wefie. Modern mobile-phone’s camera technology has introduced us to this trend. According to Urban Dictionary, wefie is a plural version of selfie; ‘A photo was taken in the same fashion as a selfie, but with 2 or more people – making it a “WE-fie.” Usually, the friend with the longest arms is the designated wefie taker.’ Most of the time, the wefie was taken using selfie stick. I don’t have a selfie stick (yet) but I have captured wefie images with my travel buddy.

People are mostly easy going and most of the time, do not bother their images are (secretly) captured by photographers. Additionally, the street-life in Jakarta is interesting to observe. In the next coming Monochrome Monday posts, I will present more images of the street-life in Jakarta.

  1. Yes Indah, photography has changed with advent of mobile camera and selfie did the trick and it became a craze and this new word “wefie” seems to be quite interesting and with the stick in hand, one would love playing around and make photo capturing more fun, taking photo is a lovely engagement with self and many times with surrounding, we keep observing and see things from a different lens.
Otherwise we get caught in the routines of life and forget to enjoy the beauty and bounty of nature and the liveliness of living life…this picture that you taken captures the very essence of the art of photography…

Looking forward to seeing your street life photography…

  2. Personally I am not a fan of taking photos of myself 😀 I rather be behind the camera than in front of it! I do the occasional selfie but most of the time, but that is about it. A lot of my friends in Singapore like to do wefie, though, and love to put them up on Instagram. No matter how we take a photo, it is always about capturing all the memories around us, and within us too 🙂
