One Day in Canggu Beach
Finally, I made my third solo trip to Bali (Indonesia) during the pandemic. This time, it’s combined with a diving trip in Amed. The first place I visited was Canggu Beach in North Kuta. It’s a surfing destination with middle-high waves and beach party go-ers due to numerous beach clubs stretched along its coast. Not really my typical travel destinations these days. Mind you, I am 40+ years old female. Too old for wild beach parties, although some had said that I look too young to stay away from any wild activities 😀

But during the pandemic, I heard the area was not as busy as it used to be. Thus, it’s a good time to visit on its quiet days. I gave it a go, staying in the area for one night: meeting a friend who lived in the area, and we had drinks with a view of the sea until late at night. The sounds of the waves replaced the music that was gone as all bars were closed early. Thanks to Balinese hospitality, my friend and I were allowed to stay at the bar while it was closing. It was perfect.
I wake up with my coffee cup to the beach in the morning, sitting on the bench enjoying the sunrise and the sea breeze. I run barefoot after finishing my coffee.. it felt amazing to touch the wet sands under my sole.

I had a long brunch at one of the restaurants facing the sea. A perfect spot to see the surfers. Maybe someday I will take a surfing lesson. Never too old to try something new!
