Monochrome Monday: The Pillars of ILO

I took these images during my visit to International Labour Organisation (ILO) headquarters in Geneva (Switzerland). The ILO headquarters office has an impressive entrance of huge symmetrical colonnades. The ILO’s colonnades were quite impressive to walk through, as you could see how small the three men were.

These images reminded me of a conversation with one of ILO staff member when I was about to capture the pictures. He said the impressive colonnades have supported the ILO building for long time; and just like the building, the ILO needs strong pillars with certain values and idealism to support the promotion of better and fair working condition around the world.

I do hope the pillars of the ILO stay strong to achieve its noble goal, decent work for all.

  1. Indah, GREAT STRONG PHOTOS OF MONUMENTAL PILLARS of the ILO in Geneva, Switzerland & a great message for workers & unions the world over. I am glad you feel strongly as I do for Labor rights!!!!!!!!!!!!! Phil

    • Thank you so much Phil! So glad to find out that you support the labour rights, we do share similar interest! I used to work directly on the field of promoting the labour rights in Indonesia, kinda miss those days sometimes 🙂

  2. Wow, this shot is not only a great shot for scale, which is incredible…but also for symmetry (really a great perspective from that line of thought…as it is not your normal symmetrical shot). But as you say, it is the scale that is so impressive. Cheers to you and for the strong pillars of the ILO 🙂
