Cuba, how much longer?
Teri Dashfield invited me to join a five day photo challenge with song. I decided to post images related to places that I had visited and matched the images to the songs that represents or about the place. Please bear with me for the next coming five days, and to excite you more, some songs that I am going to include are not in English.
Day 2: Cuba
Quizás, Quizás, Quizás song always reminded me of Cuba. We heard the song in every cities we visited in Cuba. The song was written by a Cuban, Osvaldo Farrés, about (complicated) romantic relationship. Just a thought, few part of lyrics represents the current situation of Cuba. No, I am not going to discuss about the politics issue nor embargo in Cuba, but I do wonder how much longer Cuba should wait to be fully an open state and no longer isolated…
Estás perdiendo el tiempo
Pensando, pensando
Por lo que más tú quieras
¿Hasta cuándo? ¿Hasta cuándo?
You lose time
Thinking, thinking
For God’s sake
How much longer? How much longer?
(Partial lyric of song Quizás, Quizás, Quizás)
Hoping I can visit someday soon now.
Hopefully the diplomatic relationship with US will be improving soon 🙂
Yes. Exactly. It looks like a wonderful place to visit.
Beautiful song..though I don’t know the language but enjoyed the tune… 🙂 ..and I always love your photos… 🙂
Thank you Maniparna, the song is a classic but still enjoyable to listen to event at techno music era 😀
Even though unfortunately I did not understand the Spanish, I loved listening Indah. There was so much expression from the piano player who accompanied, and man and woman had the look of much hardship and sorrow, but are people who are very resilient.
A lot of Canadians travel fly to Cuba for a week or two during the winter for a bit of warmth during a long, cold winter. But it is nearly always at a resort, owned for foreign companies. They never get to see the real Cuba.
Thank you for sharing this Indah! 🙂
~Carl~
The song is so beautiful indeed, Carl. I am happily sharing it with you!
That’s true what you said. even the case as well in the Netherlands, there are so many resorts+flight package offers to Cuba from the Netherlands as well. We decided not to take any of the tour package but arrange things ourselves, rented a car to travel around Cuba and stayed at guest houses, that’s a great way to see the real Cuba 🙂
Wow, I had no idea that the resort+flight packages to Cuba also come out of Europe. I have read about the guest houses (as an armchair traveller) and if I were to go to Cuba, this is how I would want it. Also injects money into the local people and economy instead of a foreign corporation. Much admiration you for travelling as such. I know you would have returned to the Netherlands with a far richer experience! 🙂
Love this song! Actually, I love Spanish and bossa nova tunes. And I am NOT a native speaker, most of the time I do not understand the songs but I just go along and dream away… Just sounds so sexy and passionate. 🙂
So happy to share the song with you 🙂 Indeed, it is a perfect song to listen and to relax 🙂
A beautiful song. Hope I get to visit Cuba before it changes:)
