Cuba, how much longer?

Teri Dashfield invited me to join a five day photo challenge with song. I decided to post images related to places that I had visited and matched the images to the songs that represents or about the place. Please bear with me for the next coming five days, and to excite you more, some songs that I am going to include are not in English.

Day 2: Cuba

Quizás, Quizás, Quizás song always reminded me of Cuba. We heard the song in every cities we visited in Cuba. The song was written by a Cuban, Osvaldo Farrés, about (complicated) romantic relationship. Just a thought, few part of lyrics represents the current situation of Cuba. No, I am not going to discuss about the politics issue nor embargo in Cuba, but I do wonder how much longer Cuba should wait to be fully an open state and no longer isolated…

Estás perdiendo el tiempo
Pensando, pensando
Por lo que más tú quieras
¿Hasta cuándo? ¿Hasta cuándo?

You lose time
Thinking, thinking
For God’s sake
How much longer? How much longer?

(Partial lyric of song Quizás, Quizás, Quizás)

  1. One thing is for certain, Cuba will change for ever. I imagine that it’s a place in time right now, and that will be lost. But, we will have your beautiful photos of how Cuba used to be!

    • I am afraid that will be the case as if the country opens completely..I hope it will stay the same, at least protecting some old customs and the cars 😀

  2. I love this song! But only now I realize what it means…thanks Indah! I love listening to Spanish songs (reminds me growing up where my grandma had Spanish music playing- she’s half Spanish).

    • My Spanish is horrible 😦 actually, it was mixed translation from here and there..I hope my interpretation is correct! How cool you have a half Spanish grandmother, ooh, I love Spanish food 🙂

  3. I love how you are doing the videos con las hermosas fotos! Fantastic! Maybe one day I will go to Cuba pero cuando? The interpretation I found goes like this: You are wasting time
    Thinking, thinking
    That which you want most
    Until when? Until when?

    • Oh Teri, thank you for the interpretation! Muchas gracias! My Spanish is lousy, I went to a begnner course last year and never get a chance to improve it..hehe.. my translation was with the help from online thingies as well.. 🙂

  4. My mom can sing this song :). US citizens still can’t really visit Cuba – even with special visas. I do hope that one day, it will truly become an open country.

  5. Do you speak Spanish as well? I am impressed.

Btw, nice pics and the song! I don’t have a clue apart from the lines you wrote down 😛
